Socialist International supports federative Syria, says PYD co-leader

PYD Co-leader Saleh Moslem

Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-leader Saleh Moslem has told Kurdish news agency ANHA that the Socialist International supports his party’s proposal of the Democratic Syria Federation project.

Moslem, who was in Colombia for the 25th Congress of the Socialist International, said topics like the Syria conflict, the situation in the Middle East and the Turkish government’s policies were raised during the meetings.

“We told the congress that our democratic federation proposal is the best solution for the conflict in Syria that is essentially caused by regressive systems dominating the Middle East,” the PYD leader said.

Saleh Moslem also said that the final resolution adopted by the congress stated that the Democratic Syria Assembly should participate in the Geneva and Astana talks and that the imprisoned HDP deputies in Turkey should be freed.
