Another curfew will come into effect in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province beginning at 4pm today, according to a statement by the governorate of Mardin. The reason for the curfew is an “anti-terror operation” in the mountainous and forested rural areas where Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters have allegedly built shelters and stored weapons.

Curfews and blockades have been enacted 63 times in 22 districts and in 7 provinces, Nusaybin included, since the peace process between the PKK and the Turkish government ended in April, 2015.
