Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed rocket attacks from Sinai on Wednesday saying 7 projectiles were intercepted.

On Thursday, Islamic State (IS) announced through its media outlet Amaq News Agency that the group carried out a rocket attack on the city of Eilat in southern Israel.

The rockets were reportedly launched from the Sinai peninsula in Egypt, where Islamist groups have been waging an intensive insurgency since the July 2013 coup that removed president Mohamed Morsi. Which was followed by a crackdown on his supporters and the Muslim Brotherhood backing the Egyptian President.

There have been no reports of casualties.
